In the dynamic world of beauty, trends follow each other in rapid succession. Yet there is one trend that has held up for over six years: Henna Brows. But what makes this technique so successful? And what's the story behind Mrs.Highbrow's Brow Henna, which we launched in December 2018? Mrs.Highbrow founder Ska van Buren tells.
- By Ska van Buren
In the early days of Mrs.Highbrow, some eight years ago, I was looking for a more permanent paint that would stay on the skin longer than regular brow paint. Mrs.Highbrow started almost fifteen years ago as one of the first brow bars in the Netherlands, and brow henna really wasn't there yet. But I did feel there was a need for something similar. After all, in our salon we had an awful lot of customers who were overjoyed with their newly dyed eyebrows, but also disappointed because the color was off the skin after just one shower."
Because that's the case with "regular" eyebrow paint. With that, only the hairs are dyed. Only when it's just done, you also have the beautiful shadow on the skin. And clients wanted to keep that much longer. Of course you can also opt for permanent make-up, but not everyone wants that. For those women I wanted to develop something.
Global search
Soon I thought of henna, which I knew from the beautiful decorations on Oriental women, and a long, exciting journey began! So I visited an Amsterdam shop specializing in pure henna, for applying skin decorations. There I learned that pure henna has to soak in for hours and leaves a reddish-brown imprint." So that wasn't me. And so I continued my search and ended up with Brazilian henna brands.
In Brazil in particular, Brow Henna had been a trend for some time, but these were not really on the Dutch market yet. Importing the henna seemed like a tough job because I don't speak Portuguese. After a long search, I ended up with a couple of Indian producers. Many samples later and endless testing - my arms and even legs were covered in stains for weeks - our Brow Henna was finally born.
Base: pure henna
So what makes Mrs.Highbrow Brow Henna so unique? For one thing, too consistent quality. Although it is based on the natural product henna, the product has been the same quality for six years. If not better. Our Indian producer ensures that the product keeps getting better and better. With a good imprint on the skin.
Brow Henna has pure Indian Henna as its base; the original green powder. But to make it Brow Henna, color pigments are added to it. These pigments provide the brown tones and the durability of the henna. This makes it the formula of choice for professionals. Brow Henna is different from regular eyebrow dye because you are not only dyeing the hairs but the skin as well. This makes the brows appear fuller, with the effect of a tattoo. Brow Henna also allows you to create super sleek brows. The henna stays on the skin for up to 10-14 days and colors the hairs for up to 6 weeks.
The benefits of Mrs.Highbrow Brow Henna
- Brow Henna not only colors the hairs, but also the skin. This gives a kind of tattoo effect, making eyebrows look much tighter and fuller.
- Brow Henna colors the hairs as well as the skin more intensely than ordinary paint. This allows you to enjoy darker brows for longer.
- The Brow Henna only needs to take effect for 15-20 minutes, creating a beautiful result in a relatively short time.
- Mrs.Highbrow has 6 different colors; from blonde to almost black. There are five beautiful cool shades and one warm shade (Hazelnut).
- Because the colors can all be mixed together, you can create the perfect shade for each client. This allows you to perfectly match the color to each skin and hair type.
