The 10 Most Asked Questions About Brow Lamination

Mrs.Highbrow Brow Lamination

We get questions every day regarding brow lamination, which comes as no surprise as it’s the most popular treatment at the moment! How long does it last? How often can you get the treatment done? Can you combine brow lift and henna? We’re tackling the 10 most frequently asked questions.

1. Can you combine Brow Lamination with Henna?

Although the two treatments are often combined, we don’t actually recommend it, as it forces the brow hairs to endure quite a lot and the result isn’t always the best. The outcome of a henna brow treatment is tight eyebrows, and brow lift the opposite with fluffy, upright brows; combining the two is too intense. The focus of brow lamination is on the hairs, but the effect is lost if using henna dye on the skin as well and you no longer see as much of the hairs. We recommend using a classic brow dye if you’d still like to have a darker brow. If you do want the hair itself to be a bit darker, choose a regular eyebrow dye or Mrs.Highbrow Hybrid Dye in one of the lightest colors.

2. After which step do you apply eyebrow tint?

Brow lift treatments really put the brow hairs on center stage, so dying them a shade darker can be a great way to really have the brows pop. Apply a traditional brow tint after Step 2 of the Brow Lamination treatment, removing the setting lotion. Note: because the hairs are treated with the lotions, they are more receptive to the paint and you only need to let it sit for a short time; a maximum of 5 minutes is sufficient! If you dye the brows with Mrs.Highbrow Hybrid Dye, choose one of the lightest colors.

3. How long do laminated brows last?

The brushed up effect of Brow Lamination lasts about 4 to 6 weeks, but be sure to inform your clients that this doesn't happen by itself! To enjoy the lifted effect for weeks, the eyebrows must be combed in the desired direction every morning, so give your client a spoolie & show her how to best use it!

4. The lifted effect only lasts about a day. How is that possible?

Although Brow Lamination does not always guarantee perfectly lifted eyebrows for weeks, if the brows last only 1 day, likely your client made a mistake with her aftercare. Your client may have accidentally washed her face with water, perspired or slept on her eyebrows, causing the lifted eyebrow hairs to sag. However, there is hope! The products from the treatment will still have an effect but just need a helping hand, so advise her to brush the brows up again with an eyebrow brush and possibly use brow soap or brow gel.

Of course, it's possible that the treatment wasn't done properly (perhaps you did not leave the lotions on long enough), that this client has very stiff brows, or that the hairs are too short and pointing downward.

5. Can you perform Brow Lamination if a client is pregnant?

Due to contraindications we do not recommend Brow Lamination treatments during pregnancy and/or breastfeeding. The treatment could be less effective due to changing hormones or the skin may not respond as well to the treatment during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Ask her to come back in a few weeks or months to let her shine!

6. How do you remove the adhesive from the skin?

You use adhesive to stick the hair to the skin, but make sure you don't use too much: one stroke per eyebrow is enough! You can remove the residue in the last step with a moist cotton swab, or you can just leave it on the skin. If you're dealing with thinner hairs or hairs that are already quite high up, you can leave adhesive on as well. Read more about how this works in this blog.

7. What type of eyebrow hair is Brow Lamination not suitable for?

Brow Lamination is not suitable for extremely thin brows or very short brows. The choice is up to the client but as a professional, it’s best to give your advice, and it is often appreciated! It’s best to try to prevent your client from paying a lot of money for a disappointing result. Additionally, it’s good to know that the treatment is a no-go for irritated skin, such as with acne, eczema or sunburnt skin around the eyebrows.

8. How often can you repeat the Brow Lamination treatment?

You may repeat the treatment every 6 to 8 weeks. If you would do this more often, there is a great chance that your client's eyebrows will no longer look browmazing, and the eyebrows will be damaged, as well as the skin around the eyebrows.

9. How do you care for laminated brows after treatment?

Advise your clients to give their eyebrows the best care after a Brow Lamination treatment. For example with Mrs.Highbrow Keratin Complex. Keratin Complex is a luxurious treatment that nourishes and protects the eyelashes and eyebrows, making it a great product to sell in your salon. Want to become a reseller of Keratin Complex? Mail to sales@mrshigbrow.com and ask for the purchase prices.

10. Can clients wear makeup immediately after a brow lift?

We advise to leave the eyebrows alone for the first 24 hours. No brow make-up, no tanning products and no moisture! Do not apply any brow make-up after the treatment and let the Brow Lamination products do their work. After these 24 hours she is free to put on her eyebrows with makeup, and she can clean her eyebrows at night with confidence with makeup remover.

Brush Tip

Instead of a spoolie you can use a tooth cleaner: this fine brush ensures that you can comb the hairs even more precisely in the right direction and it's great for removing the lotions. You can find these at your local drugstore.
