Ombre Henna Or Hybrid Brows: The Best Techniques

Nothing beats a pair of flawless eyebrows. Whether you work with Brow Henna or Hybrid Dye, the ombre effect gives the most beautiful results. How to achieve it? We tell you our two tried-and-true techniques.

Ombre means shadow in French. So the ombre effect means nothing more than applying Brow Henna or Hybrid Dye from light to dark on the eyebrows. A nice color build-up from almost nothing to increasingly darker. But also when applying pomade or permanent make-up (powder brows) the ombre effect is used a lot.

Natural Effect With Brow Henna or Hybrid Dye

Why do we like the ombre effect better than a hard, blocky brow? Because it looks most natural. With a natural eyebrow, you also tend to see fewer hairs at the beginning than in the middle or at the end, making the front look lighter.

We like to keep this ombre effect when we dye the brows darker with Brow Henna or Hybrid Dye. They may be darker, but as natural as possible. Mrs.Highbrow has developed two techniques to achieve this ombre effect.

Ombre Technique 1: Filling In the Eyebrow Completely.

In this ombre technique, you completely fill in the eyebrow with Brow Henna or Hybrid Dye, and after a few minutes you remove only the roots.

1. From the roots to the tail, fill in the entire brow. All skin and hair must be completely covered with Brow Henna or Hybrid Dye. So it may be applied so thickly that no skin is visible.

2. After 4 to 7 minutes (depending on the client's skin type), remove an inch of the roots with a damp cotton swab.

3. If you push from the inside out, with light pressure, you can already see the ombre effect: a nice transition over from light to dark.

4. Leave the rest in for another 10-15 minutes, until the color has worked well enough on hair and skin, and has reached the right intensity.

Ombre Technique 2: From Outside To Inside.

In this ombre technique, you fill in the entire eyebrow with Brow Henna or Hybrid Dye, and after a few minutes, you only remove the base.

1. Fill in the entire eyebrow from the base to the tail. Both the skin and hair should be fully covered with Brow Henna or Hybrid Dye. It can be applied thick enough that no skin is visible.

2. After 4 to 7 minutes (depending on the client's skin type), remove a centimeter of the base with a moist cotton swab.

3. When pushing from the inside to the outside with light pressure, you'll see the ombre effect: a beautiful transition from light to dark.

4. Let the rest of it continue to process for another 10-15 minutes until the color has worked well on the hair and skin, and has reached the desired intensity.
