The idea of Brow Henna Is a tattoo effect. This eyebrow dye based on Indian henna not only colors the hairs, but also leaves an imprint on the skin.
But sometimes it can be difficult to get the henna to fully adhere to the skin, causing the color to fade and not last as long. Annoying, what your clients are just coming for those perfect Henna Brows with tattoo effect....
Fortunately, there are simple tricks you can apply to achieve better adhesion to the skin!
6 Tips for the best adhesion.
1. Prep the skin.
To properly prepare the skin for a treatment with Brow Henna and ensure that the henna adheres well, it is important to start with a thorough cleansing. This can be done with Mrs.Highbrow Skin Prep Lotion or our newest addition: Foam Cleanser.
If the client wears a lot of makeup, it is advisable to first use an oil-free makeup remover to remove all residue of makeup. Clean and grease-free skin allows the henna to penetrate better and Henna Brows stay beautiful longer.
PRO TIP: After cleaning, always pat the skin dry very well before you start dyeing.
2. Scrub the skin.
By removing the dead skin cells, you create a smoother, even surface for the Brow Henna to adhere to better. Use a gentle exfoliant and gently apply it to the brows in circular motions. Then remove well.
PRO TIP: In your appointment confirmation, you can also ask your clients to exfoliate the skin themselves before the treatment. This in turn saves you time.
Elijah: "You get the most beautiful Henna Brows with a mixture that is just the right thickness."
3. The perfect mixture.
"Make sure the henna is the right thickness, not too watery and not too thick, about the texture of yogurt. This is very important for good adhesion. I always mix with a few drops first - rather a little too little than too much - and then let the mixture thicken. Then I add another 1 or 2 drops and mix very well, until the mixture is completely even, with no lumps."
4. The Right Color Brow Henna.
If you use too light a shade of Brow Henna for a particular skin, the print will be less present. You may then think that the color didn't take well, but in fact there is just not enough contrast.
What Color Henna Brows for Whom?
- Honey: fairly warm blonde, for ladies (and men of course) with light brows and light skin
- Taupe: a fine ash blonde shade, for blonde to dark blonde brows on light to medium skin
- Hazelnut: beautiful warm brown shade. For redheads and anyone who doesn't like overly ashy brows.
- Natural Brown: a natural brown effect, for brows on light to medium skin
- Ash Brown: a dark shade with an ashy and cool effect, for toned to dark skin
- Raven: an extra dark shade, especially for eyebrows on dark skin
5. Mix with Treatment Enhancer.
Mrs.Highbrow Brow Henna can be mixed with plain tap water. But for even better adhesion, Treatment Enhancer has been developed. By mixing 1 scoop of powder with 8-10 drops of Treatment Enhancer, you will get a better print.
In addition, this miracle liquid helps the henna penetrate deeper into the hair shaft, making the color last longer and produce a more intense result.
So by mixing the Brow Henna with Treatment Enhancer, you will not only get a better imprint but also more intensely colored hairs.
6. The right application time
It is important to let Brow Henna soak in long enough because this gives time for the henna to adhere and develop properly to the skin, revealing a beautiful tan. Generally, 15 to 20 minutes of soaking is advised for Henna Brows. Except for the roots. You remove those after 5 to 10 minutes for the most beautiful ombre effect.
PRO TIP: Leaving the henna on too short will not only create too light an impression, it can also result in a green glow. Henna is naturally green and takes time to develop into a beautiful brown shade.
