Good reviews are SO important for your salon! People rely on the experiences of others. How to get more customers to leave a (good) review? leave a (good) review?

Reviews are incredibly important for a beauty salon. First of all, reviews serve as social proof for potential customers. Positive reviews can increase new clients' confidence and convince them to try the salon's services.

In addition, reviews can provide valuable feedback and insights for yourself. It allows you to understand what customers value and what aspects could potentially be improved. This allows you to optimize services and increase customer satisfaction.

In most cases, customers leave a review only after they have had an extremely positive or a very negative experience. Most of your customers - who are simply satisfied - are less likely to leave a review. But, of course, that's what you want. Because the more reviews, the better.

You get good reviews, of course, by doing excellent work and providing super service. But how do you ensure that happy customers actually bother to post a review?

1. Make it easy to post reviews.

Are you affiliated with a platform like Treatwell? Then customers will automatically receive a review request. Also, the salon program Salonized can automatically do a review request after each visit.

Are you not on these platforms, or do you just want more Google reviews, too? Make it as easy as possible for the customer.

2 Ways to ask customers for a review.

  1. Put a QR code on the counter that your beauty can scan after treatment. This leads them directly to Google. A Google Review QR code allows customers to rate your business with a single scan.
Here read how to do this.
  2. Send a review request via email or text message with a link to the Google review page.

2. Just ask.

After treatment, does a client say she is super happy, or does she indicate by email that she is very happy with the solution you provided after she was initially dissatisfied, for example? Say you really like hearing this, and ask her to write a positive review.

Refer her to Google, or ask her to respond to the review request from Treatwell, for example. For sure she will be happy to help you with a nice review!

3. Show off your successes.

Show off your successes: post reviews regularly on Instagram, and make sure they are on your website. Show that the vast majority of your customers are satisfied with your products or services, and share positive reviews to give a balanced view of the quality you offer. This in turn makes others more likely to leave a review.
You can find plenty of templates for this on Canva.

4. Reward reviews.

After a treatment, send a request to submit a review and offer, for example, a 10% discount for the next treatment, or a free product.

This way, you encourage clients to share their experiences and reward them for their feedback at the same time. It's a win-win situation that benefits both the client and you.

5. Respond to reviews.

When customers take the trouble to leave a review, make sure you respond, and thank the writer for her review. Show that you are involved and that you value your customers' opinions.

By responding openly to both positive and negative reviews, you exude professionalism and encourage more customers to share their experiences.
