Behind the scenes: the launch of the Next Gen Airbrush

A new sensational product deserves a big launch. So for the Next Gen Airbrush campaign, we pulled out all the stops. A graffiti artist, drones, a set by night.... Check out the making of!

Earlier this year, the brow world shook to its foundations when the airbrush made its appearance. A megatrend, and we immediately jumped on it with our own machine. Fortunately, this did not turn out to be a temporary trend; Airbrush Brows are still hot. That called for an upgrade of our classic black Airbrush. The result? A limited edition in cool blue: the Next Gen!

Mr.Juice meets Mrs.Highbrow.

We wanted to launch the new Next Gen airbrush in a surprising way. That's why we joined forces with graffiti artist Sandor Sweet, aka Juice. This choice is not accidental! The art of airbrushing bears striking similarities to graffiti. While a high-pressure paint sprayer creates broad paint streaks, the airbrush does the same but at low pressure for highly detailed work. It is often used for precision work, such as body painting and nail art, and in this case for the perfect finishing touch: the brows.

Cool as Cara.

How did we come up with this idea? Mrs.Highbrow's creative director Victor Mulder explains: "We wanted to show with the campaign that with the airbrush technique you can be very creative in your work. The comparison is there with graffiti, where you also create the most beautiful artworks under high pressure. With this we have created a very distinctive visual language in the brow world."

You probably didn't fail to notice who served as inspiration for the mural. Victor: "With the portrait of Cara Delevigne, we wanted to pay tribute to all the brow beauties in the world."

The idea of the film? Two girls are on a nighttime adventure to practice their graffiti skills while perfecting the art of eyebrow styling with the innovative Next Gen Airbrush, with the police hot on their heels. All filmed and edited by videographer Daan Schuurmans of Rise Films and his assistant Rens. A drone was used for the aerial footage, to make the "crime scene" look good

The art of graffiti is often practiced after sunset, to avoid potholes. Therefore, to create a somewhat dark atmosphere, we opted to wait until dark, which - on the longest day of the summer - was not until after ten. It took some work after that before everything was on. It wasn't until about four in the morning that the commercial was a wrap.

The art work stood for at least another four weeks. And that's special, because due to lack of space, graffiti is often quickly repainted by other artists.

Next Gen Airbrush: the advantages

The new Mrs.Highbrow Next Gen airbrush is of the same top quality as our black model. But besides the cool blue color, the Airbrush has a few fine upgrades:

  • An eye-catching indicator that shows your battery status at a glance.
  • A smart nozzle protection ring that you can leave on during use.
  • A deluxe slide box for storing your device.
