1. Why Did The Lash Lift Not Work?
If the lift and curl from a lash lift treatment are disappointing, there are a few reasons why.
- You used too large a lash lift shield for the length of the lashes. If a client doesn't have very long lashes and you use size L, for example, the lashes often only reach halfway up the lash elevator shield, preventing a nice curl.
- You have kept too short an application time for the type of lash. For normal lashes, the application time is 6-7 minutes, for stiff lashes 8 minutes.
- The client has lashes that are too short and/or stiff for a lash elevator to be successful. The lashes must have a minimum length of 4 millimeters.
Is the cause point 1 or 2? Then you can perform the treatment again. Do use a smaller size shield now and keep 2 to 3 minutes of soaking time per cream.
TIP: If the eyelashes were tinted, you will have to re-tint them again, as the lotions decolorize the eyelashes again.
Cleanse the lashes well before performing the lash elevator treatment. To ensure that the lotions can do their job extra well: cleanse them with Treatment Enhancer as well.
2. After Which Step Do You Tint The Lashes?
It is nice to dye the eyelashes during a lash lift treatment. Especially if a client has light lashes, or lashes whose tips are lighter. Use black or blue-black eyelash dye for this, so that the lash elevator gives an even more beautiful result.
Lash Lift Lifting Cream and Setting Cream lighten the hairs. This is why we always dye at the end of the treatment, i.e. after step 2.
TIP: You can dye the lashes while they are still on the shields, saving time!

3. Lashes Got Messy After Lash Lift....
After you lifted the lashes, they looked beautiful. Overjoyed, your client left the salon. But the next day she calls up disappointed: the lashes look messy.
Messy lashes after a lash lift can have several causes:
1. The lashes weren 't glued to the rods neatly enough, but crisscrossed together. Or in too large tufts. It is important to attach the lashes to the lash elevator shield one at a time.
2. The lashes are overdeveloped; the creams' application time was too long.
3. Lifting Cream 1 was not thoroughly removed before Setting Cream 2 was applied, so the lashes overdeveloped.
And Then Now The Solution...
If the lashes are really too tangled, and doing nothing is not an option, the best thing you can do is "relax" the lashes. You then briefly repeat the lash elevator process, but without lifting shields.
- Apply eyepads over the lower lashes and have your client close their eyes.
- Take a microbrush with Lifting Cream Step 1. Apply a generous amount to all lashes.
- Using a spooling oil, brush lashes from root to tip. Repeat several times until you see that the hairs are straight.
- Remove Lifting Cream Step 1 and repeat previous steps with Setting Cream Step 2.
- Clean the lashes well with a damp cotton pad and apply Conditioning Oil Step 3 or Mrs.Highbrow Keratin Complex for extra care. Leave this on for 3 minutes.
- Allow lashes to rest for 4 to 6 weeks before doing the treatment again.
Extra care with Mrs.Highbrow Keratin Complex. Definitely a must if lashes are overprocessed, or lifted more than once within 6 weeks.
4. How Often Can You Repeat A Lash Lift?
A Lash Lift treatment can be repeated every 6 to 8 weeks, depending on the client's natural lash cycle. Don't do it more often either, to avoid over-treating the lashes. This also means: do not treat if any curl from a previous treatment is still present.
An exception is when you need to fix a problem. Are the lashes curled too little, or too much, or is the result messy? Then you may repeat the treatment - as described above. After all, you want to provide a solution to a dissatisfied client.

5. Lashes Loosen From Lash Lift Shield....
Sometimes you have to deal with transverse lashes that do not stick properly to the lash elevator shield. This could be because you didn't use enough Adhesive, or because certain hairs are very short.
Francien Vermeer of First Expression has the following smart tip: "By applying a strip of tape to the lashes, any lashes that come loose stay in the lotion. That way you never have to deal with lashes falling back again."
