With our own Dyōtics Brow Henna, you'll not only dye the brow hairs, but your clients also get a gorgeous stain on the skin, making the eyebrows look even fuller and sleeker. It's exactly this look that your clients want to enjoy for as long as possible, so it's up to you to make the magic happen. Afterwards, it's your client's job (especially in the first 24 hours) to handle her stunning new brows with care.

The First 24 Hours After Henna Treatment

Brow henna is meant to stay well on the skin after treatment. But those first 24-48 hours after treatment are absolutely crucial to enjoying the henna brows for as long as possible, so the client should adhere to a few tips! Share these tips with every client repeatedly.

#1 Keep Dry For At Least 24 Hours

In order for the henna to stain the skin best, it's important that your client does not wet the brows for at least the first 24 hours. This means: she cannot get her head wet in the shower in the first 24 hours.

The sauna is also definitely not recommended in the first 24 hours,  as perspiration will also get the brows wet, having a detrimental effect on how long the henna remains on the skin.

#2 No Intense Sports & Hot Yoga

An intense run, strength training or a hot yoga class can cause you to perspire heavily, so we advise against any type of activity like this for the first 24 hours. Although - even after the first 24 hours, your client should keep this in mind - for example, if she takes a hot yoga class several days a week, she can expect the henna brows to fade more quickly.

#3 No Makeup Remover Or Face Wash

For the first 24 hours, it's important to use as little - preferably no - cleansing products in the brow area as possible, so a makeup remover or face wash is not recommended. Make sure to clean the brows well before treatment with a make-up remover, Skin Prep Lotion and Treatment Enhancer, allowing the henna to adhere best, but the client should also not have to clean her brows for the first 24 hours.

#4 No Makeup Application

Advise the client not to apply makeup to the brow area for the first 24 hours. First, it won't be necessary because the henna brow will be very intense, and second, it is not recommended because the client cannot use makeup remover or face wash either! Applying makeup is actually just unnecessary.

#5 Not Full In The Sun

Especially true for the first 24 hours, it's not good for the client to be in full sun with their new henna brows - this may actually trigger an allergy! And remember that sun and tanning beds will cause the color to fade faster.

The Rest Of The Weeks After Henna Treatment

Although the first 24 hours are crucial to enjoying the henna brows for as long as possible, it is important to also give your client some after-care tips in general.

Our Dyōtics Brow Henna colors eyebrow hairs for 4 to 6 weeks, and produces a nice stain on the skin for up to 10 days. The better the aftercare tips below are followed, the longer the color will remain visible on the skin! A few more:

#1 Don't Scrub

The epidermis - the top layer of the skin - is constantly being renewed. This is why it's just not possible to maintain the effect of henna on the skin for more than 10 days. A number of factors will cause the epidermis to renew itself even faster, and one of these is exfoliation. It sounds logical, but remind the client not to exfoliate the skin around the brows - or the brows themselves - while the henna is still clearly visible. This will only speed up the fading process!

However, you can advise the client to scrub the skin around the brows 1 or 2 days before the treatment, this way the skin renews itself just before the treatment. The henna will then adhere optimally and your client will enjoy her fabulous henna brows longer.

We don't recommend exfoliating the brows before the treatment in your salon. Besides the fact that you often spend up to 5 minutes extra time on it, there is also the chance that some grains are left behind, which makes it more difficult to apply the henna properly.

#2 Don't Use Facial Cream on the Brows

You should also suggest not using face creams in the brow area, especially anti-aging creams containing retinol or AHA. This is because these substances stimulate the production of new skin cells, causing the old skin cells, with the henna, to be shed earlier.

#3 Beware of sun and tanning

While we all know we should be careful in the sun, this is especially true with henna brows. Sun exposure - and especially sunburn - will accelerate cell division. When you burn, for example, you can see this by shedding. As a result, the skin will renew itself faster and the henna will fade faster. Also, the brows and stain on the skin fade faster from the sun.

Note that too much sun exposure combined with henna brows can also trigger an allergy!

#4 Avoid Swimming Pools With Chlorine

And finally, avoid chlorinated pools while the henna color is on the skin, as pool water is more likely to cause the henna to fade. If you're on vacation, you can, of course, just swim in the pool, but be careful not to spend too much time with your head underwater!
