Frequently Asked Questions About Wax
What is the difference between Soft Wax and Film Wax?
Soft Wax remains soft, is applied in a thin layer and removed using Wax Strips. Film Wax hardens after application and can then be removed without strips. The main difference lies in the consistency of the wax and how it is removed.
Do you need Wax Strips for Film Wax and Soft Wax?
You don’t need Wax Strips for Film Wax. Film Wax hardens on the skin and can then be removed in one smooth motion, without strips.
Soft Wax remains soft and is removed using Wax Strips. Apply the wax in a thin layer, then use a strip to remove it along with the unwanted hairs.
At Mrs.Highbrow, you’ll find both Film Wax and Soft Wax, along with the matching Wax Strips for professional Brow Waxing.
When should you avoid waxing?
Do not wax irritated, damaged or sunburnt skin, or areas with cuts, active skin infections or inflammation. Take extra care with clients who use retinol, tretinoin or other exfoliating products. These can make the skin more sensitive and increase the risk of skin damage.
Before each treatment, ask about skincare products, medications and recent skin treatments, such as chemical peels or laser treatments. If you're unsure about the condition of the skin, postpone the waxing treatment.
What is the correct temperature for eyebrow waxing?
The correct temperature depends on the type of wax. For Mrs.Highbrow Soft Wax, we recommend approximately 40°C. For Film Wax, you can initially set the Wax Heater to around 65°C.
Both types of wax should have a smooth, honey-like consistency so they can be applied easily and precisely. Stir the wax thoroughly and always check the temperature before applying it to the skin.
